Trick Training |
|
Whether you take joy in just playing with your dog or you aspire to achieve greater competitive skills, tricks are a foundation to success.
Trick training involves the gradual development of simple incremental joyful tasks that, when put together, "the whole is greater than the sum of the parts". Dog tricks are the product of an evolving bond built on trust and fun. Dogs develop thinking skills as they stitch together the basics, resulting in a happier, active, thinking dog wanting to engage with the owner. You will find your dog offering you more interaction and wanting to learn more. I offer trick training both in-person and virtually with Skype or Facetime. |
The BasicsCrate Games
Building value for the dog's crate is one of the best places to start when developing skills. As you can see, dogs not only develop self control, they regard the crate as their sanctuary, and love the space for it's safety and comfort. |
ComplexityAsking a dog to submerge their nose under water and to blow bubbles may seem odd, but this is a skill set that comes gradually with many individual steps.
Your dog will thank you for giving them the toilet as another toy for them to play in...oh my. |
TeamworkDogs love to play, and dogs love to play together. What better way to leverage their playful instincts into a rewarding game of friendly competition on sharing the activity with a play pal. We took it a little to the extreme here... but when they "get it" training becomes fun, and they always want more...
